  • What is a rotating curriculum?
A rotating curriculum is a structured way of teaching where different skills, techniques, or topics are introduced in a repeating cycle rather than covering everything at once. This approach allows students to join at any time without feeling behind since they will eventually cycle through all necessary material. In martial arts, a rotating curriculum often means that classes focus on specific techniques or concepts for a set period (we do quarterly), then rotate to another area of training. Over time, students experience a well-rounded education in various skills, including strikes, forms, self-defense, and sparring. At Narrowpath Martial Arts, we use a rotating curriculum that blends techniques from multiple martial arts styles, with Kenpo Karate as our base. This ensures students build strong fundamentals while also being exposed to a variety of practical self-defense methods.
  • When is belt testing?
Testing dates are scheduled quarterly. Sensei Elliott will recommend testing to individual students when all required skills have been learned. At the beginning of each quarter students will receive a list of required techniques and katas that need to be memorized and performed for rank advancement.
  • Do students have to test?
No student will ever be forced to test or made to feel ashamed for not testing. Narrowpath Martial Arts encourages students of all levels to train at our school.
